1. Port Arthur Historic Site

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, once a convict settlement. There is so much history here, not only when the convicts arrived, but more recently with the horrendous massacre in 1990’s.

2. Cascade Brewery

Australia’s oldest continually operating brewery, offering tours.

3. Richmond Bridge

Australia’s oldest stone arch bridge, built in 1825.

10. Callington Mill

A working Georgian windmill in Oatlands, dating back to 1837. A very quaint town tucked away off the main highway that many visitors miss. Oatlands has over 150 sandstone buildings, with Georgian architecture being the theme of the township. The Callington Mill is viewable by taking a local tour (not photos allowed inside). While you are in the area, why not pop next door to the Callington Mill Distillery.

11. Low Head Lighthouse

Tasmania’s oldest continuously used pilot station, with a signal station operating since 1805, this is an integral part at the mouth of the Tamar river where one side there are treacherous rocks, the other with sandbars.

12. Cataract Gorge Reserve

A very popular place to visit all year round. Just a short stroll from Launceston city, the 15 minute walk (north side) is very popular to locals and tourists. The site of the gorge has a Gorge Scenic Chairlift which has been operational for 52 years, a great relaxing way to look at the landscape from above. In summer, many cool off in the basin pools, in the evenings you can see a myriad of wildlife popping out for their evening feasts.. Nothing unusual to see some peacocks, wallabies or kookaburras, just to name a few.

13. Entally Estate

A historic homestead featuring colonial architecture and gardens. Entally Estate is a 200 year old Heritage listed House located approximately 15 minutes east of Launceston in Hadspen. The house contains a magnificent collection of furniture, collectables and fine silver. Their gardens are a big draw card from Springtime for all visitors. You can enjoy a Devonshire Tea while looking over their gorgeous fields.
